Description

Looking for a fast way to earn dough, Wallace decides to make it. Armed with a batch of ovens, an army of robotic kneading arms and an old-fashioned windmill, Wallace & Gromit™ start "Top Bun,” their new bread-baking business. Sales rise quickly and Wallace falls head over buns in love with a seductive bread-industry icon, Piella Bakewell. But when bakers suddenly start disappearing, Gromit realizes that his master is in danger as he follows a twisting, turning trail of crumbs to solve a murder mystery that becomes…A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH!

In A Matter of Loaf and Death, addled inventor Wallace and his brilliant canine companion Gromit have started a bread bakery with unpredictable but predictably hilarious results. The arrival of Piella Bakewell, the former star of the Bake-O-Lite Bread commercials, upsets their complicated world of mixers, flour mills, ovens, and forklifts. Wallace falls hard for her self-conscious charms, but Gromit uncovers a link to a string of murdered bakers. ("Cereal killer strikes again!") Director Nick Park redefined the possibilities of clay-figure stop-motion animation in the Oscar-winning shorts Creature Comforts and The Wrong Trousers, and he continues to find new subtleties of expression and gesture. When an injured Wallace asks, "I'm not a fruitcake, am I," Gromit squeezes the corners of his eyes to force a smile and gently pats his friend's arm. A Matter of Loaf and Death may not be as perfect a gem as The Wrong Trousers (what is?), but it's a worthy successor to A Close Shave and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. The extras include an unusually interesting commentary track with Park and editor David McCormick, and the lively making-of film "How They Donut." A Matter of Loaf and Death is also available on Wallace and Gromit: The Complete Collection on DVD and Blu-ray; the DVD versions have been cropped, but the Blu-ray retains the original widescreen format. It's good but a bit too short in length.

This movie is good but its a bit too short in length. It's 2 main characters get into some more trouble as well as make it out in the end like they do in all of their movies. This flick is good, charming and entertaining just like their other movies but it's one issue that I mentioned needs to be fixed; other than this issue, this movie is good to watch. I like it. 8.5/10

Dear Mr Park
While you are listed as the writer and director of "Loaf and Death", I seriously doubt that you had anything to do with it. In fact, I hope you had nothing to do with it. It would be a shame, if someone as talented as you are, were responsible for this abomination.

It was violent, Wallace and Gromit had both lost their personalities and lacked any of the traditional W & G charm that we all love. Both W & G were actually minor characters and that big, fat annoying woman was the main focus of the whole show. What on earth was this director thinking?

Please get control of your characters back from whichever talentless morons you sold them to and make us some more wonderful W & G adventures.

Thank you

I just love the characters Wallace and Gromit, they are just fantastic, this is very well made and will never grow old. Once again Gromit must come to the rescue and he does a terrific job. People of all ages will enjoy this movie, I know I do.

Better than the food network.

This movie is not as involved as the Curse of the Were-Rabbit, but definitely worth seeing, and owning, if you collect Wallace and Gromit as we do. Don't listen to the curmudgeons who rate it poorly, it is funny. Can you imagine ever seeing poor Gromit muzzled?! What is wrong with Wallce anyways? A cracking caper! My husband and I loved it and can hardly wait to share it with the grands. It IS a available in Blu-Ray for those of you cannot stand less.
